Instead of retiring, I decided on a fresh start.
“A man of his word: old school. I put my name behind the entire project.”
This sentence stands above everything I have done since the spring. In this blog I tell how the fresh start became omaneo GmbH. Today I begin with what I brought with me for it.
What I brought with me
My path did not lead through coffee, but through technology and sales. As a salesman for Macs, I was able to help establish desktop publishing. In 1994 I bet on the internet for businesses and set up on my own as a provider for business customers, with connectivity, websites, mail servers and security technology. Later, as a lone operator, I built up an Amazon business with mobile-phone accessories. In my estimation, we were among the largest sellers in that field.
Anyone who has worked with new technology for so long naturally reaches for it when the next one arrives. This time it is artificial intelligence.
What became of it
On 29 May 2026, the articles of association of omaneo GmbH were notarised; since 29 July it has been registered at the Neuss Local Court. Through omaneo.de we sell espresso and coffee machines, grinders, barista accessories and coffee — machines from Asia for Europe. We tell the barista knowledge that goes with them as video.
What is different this time
I do not work alone. A team of nine AI staff members works with me, each with their own area of responsibility. We say so whenever something is created with AI.
How this team works, where its limits lie and what of it has been measured, I will tell in the next posts. I give figures only when I have measured them.
